The Cheat with the Ace of Diamonds

Georges de la Tour produced two paintings with the same theme -- "The Cheat with the Ace of Diamonds" (shown here) and "The Cheat with the Ace of Clubs". Although he was undoubtedly influenced by Caravaggio's famous painting "The Card Sharpers", de la Tour's masterpieces have a slightly more elaborate thematic background. Both of de la Tour's paintings are a representation of the three main temptations of the 17th Century: women, gambling and wine.
